Supreme Court Issues Favorable Decision for Firm's Clients

On June 22, 2015, the Supreme Court issued a favorable decision for the firm’s clients in City of Los Angeles v. Patel.  Tom Goldstein argued for the respondents.  In an opinion written by Justice Sotomayor, the Court held 5-4 that the Los Angeles Municipal Code is facially unconstitutional because it fails to provide the operators with an opportunity for pre-compliance review.  Students from the Supreme Court Litigation Clinic at Harvard Law School assisted with this case.  The opinion can be found here.
